The experts
Bernard HeikemaMechanical Engineering Teacher at the Hanze University of Applied Science
Bernard Heikema is a Mechanical Engineering teacher at the Hanze University of Applied Science with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (graduated in 1991) and a master’s degree in Renewable Energy systems (graduated in 2023). He is an accomplished teacher, coach, and educational program developer, and enjoys using his skills to help young professionals improve their technical competencies and make them aware of the sustainability goals we are facing.
Dr. J.G. (Gerard) SchepersSenior Scientist Specialist at TNO Energy Transition/Professor Wind Energy at Hanze University of Applied Science
Gerard Schepers joined TNO Energy and Material Transition (the former Energy Research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN)) in 1986 after having finished his Masters study on Aero Space Engineering at the Technical University of Delft. Since then he has been working on the field of wind energy both as a researcher but also as coordinator of several large national and international wind energy R&D projects. The emphasis of his activities lied on rotor and wake aerodynamics, aero-acoustics and validation of design tools. In 2012 he completed a PhD at the Technical University of Delft based on the research he did in the 25 years before.
Since 2012 he is also part-time professor (lector) on Wind Energy, first at NHL University of Applied Sciences but since 2019 at Hanze University of Applied Science.
Finally he has been, and he still is, a (guest) lecturer in wind energy courses at several universities in the Netherlands and abroad.
